My brother and I are looking for a two-bedroom, one bath apartment. We'd like it to be as close to campus as possible. What would you guys recommend? I have no idea where to start.

Moving to UM Fall '09 [24 Jan 2009|09:47am]

I am moving there for fall semester as a sophmore sociology major. Does anyone know of a decent priced apartment preferably with a roomate (if anyone will be needing one) close enough to campus to ride a bike or walk? I have a full-time job now, but will be leaving it at the end of the summer and am curious if anyone knows of any part-time jobs around Montevallo on campus or otherwise close enough to campus too?

FOR SALE: '07 Toyota Tacoma Truck! [26 May 2008|03:33pm]

Anyone want to buy a 2007 Toyota Tacoma access cab? With gas close to $4 per gallon this is an excellent investment!

We hate to sell it but we want to downsize a bit. It's like new. We bought it in August 2007 and we've only put 4,600 miles on it. Asking price: $16,700.00. Any takers?

Courses [02 Dec 2007|12:15pm]

Hey everyone, I am transferring to Montevallo from Samford for Vocal Performance beginning Spring '08 semester.  I am registering this week and was wondering if anyone had any advice pertaining to what courses I might want to take / not take / get over with, especially as far as humanities and science go.  I've already fulfilled the math, fine arts, and possibly one semester of the history requirements(if it transfers).  Also any recs. for teachers would be great as well.  Thanks!

Apartment for Rent [25 Nov 2007|12:48pm]

So I'm in the process of moving to New York, and as such kindav don't need the apartment I was renting previously - it's a one bedroom at Shoal Creek Apartments on Overland road, with a decent-sized kitchen and living room area (I fit a very large dining room table, a very large armchair, and a very large TV quite comfortably).

The utilities will probably run $100 or so (most of which will be consumed by your cable package). The bedroom fits a full bed and a big dresser with room to spare and a lot of closet space, and the bathroom's really nice. It's a really nice little apartment - very quiet and a decent walk to the university.

Available any time between December 1st and January 1st for a year's lease. If you're looking to have some place to go when campus closes you can probably work something out with my parents (who are looking after the place in my absence) for pro-rated December rent.

E-mail me at kristinamkuzma@gmail.com and I can put you in touch with my dad, who can give you more details about how soon it'll be available.

[19 Jul 2007|10:20am]

So I was just offered an internship in New York, and to help pay for it, I am essentially selling all of my worldly possessions. Okay, that's kind of a lie, not all of them: just anything I can get my hands on and move easily.

Things I am selling:
-- full size air mattress, like new, electric pump. Plugs into the wall and inflates in just a couple of minutes. Super comfortable. $30

Things I am selling I will take any reasonable offer for:
-- white toaster (works fine, my parents kind of forced theirs on me after they redecorated their kitchen)
-- Lexmark scanner/copier/printer, with drivers
-- Some audiobooks -- Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello, and Amy Sedaris' Wigfield, America: the Book, John Hodgman's Areas of my Expertise
-- A blue floor lamp with a small table attached
-- purple desk lamp
-- Nintendo 64 with Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and like ten billion Legend of Zelda walk-throughs because I'm lame

I may also be looking to sublease my apartment for the fall semester. It's a nice one-bedroom with a dishwasher, fully furnished. The downside: there's no washer/dryer on the premises (but if you have friends in the dorms, it would probably be cheaper to scam on the dorm washers than to go to the laundromat) and also, I'm having a bit of a fight with the cable company. The previous tenant didn't cancel their cable/internet service, and Charter still hasn't canceled it though the landlord asked them to.

So I'm unable to set up my own account. On the one hand, this means free tv, but on the other, it means no internet unless you happen upon a wireless connection. If they happen to get on the ball while I'm away, you're welcome to set up your own account and transfer/cancel the service after you leave -- otherwise, believe me, I've been trying to get it worked out and there's not a lot I can do.

If you mostly just need a place to rest your head while you look for a place in the spring let me know and maybe we can work out a deal.

super cheap books [17 Jul 2007|08:59am]

i have old editions of the books used in carson's marriage and family class and burling's foundations in psychology class. i used both of these and even though they weren't the most current editions, they had all the information i needed. both of these books are pretty pricey if you buy them from doodles or the bookstore.

i'm selling them for $8 each. let me know if you're interested!
